Prof. Dr. Boris Paal, M.Jur. (Oxford) holds the Chair of Law and Regulation of the Digital Transformation at the Technical University of Munich.

Professor Paal’s research and teaching focuses on the social implications and regulatory issues in the context of digital transformation, in particular the digital and data economy and the legal framework for future technologies such as artificial intelligence and quantum computing.

As Of Counsel, Professor Paal is a member of the law firm Baumgartner Baumann, which specializes in artificial intelligence and IT law.

As a trained and certified commercial mediator (TENOS), Professor Paal has successfully accompanied numerous proceedings as an individual mediator.

From 2020 to 2023, Professor Paal was a judge in Civil Chamber 8 (Copyright and IT Chamber) at Hamburg Regional Court.

Professor Paal regularly gives lectures on the topics he deals with; he is a much sought-after consultant for state bodies and private companies and institutions. Guest lectureships and research visits take him to foreign universities and institutions.
