Professor Paal is a trained and certified business mediator (TENOS). In addition to his extensive experience from numerous mediation procedures, he brings his long-standing expertise as a judge at the Regional Court of Hamburg as well as in (business) legal consulting into the mediation. For the mediation procedures he oversees, Professor Paal uses proven techniques of effective negotiation and conflict management, which he also teaches and develops in university education.
Mediation is the support in negotiations by a neutral third party. As a form of out-of-court dispute resolution, mediation is characterized by consensus, voluntariness, and the self-responsibility of the participants. Unlike decisions made by authorities (judges, conciliators, or arbitrators), mediations are concluded through consensual agreements. These agreements are made voluntarily and informedly – resulting in particularly high acceptance. The participants hold the solution and outcome in their own hands. The mediator structures and accompanies the confidential process.
Why should you opt for mediation? The key to resolving conflicts lies in an open exchange based on understanding and respect. Instead of costly and protracted court proceedings, mediation offers you an efficient and proven way to resolve conflicts and maintain or restore relationships. In the heat of conflict, it’s often difficult to see clearly. This is exactly where I come in – as your trustworthy mediation agency, paving the way to a sustainable solution. As an experienced mediator, I specialize in mediating between parties, whether in personal disputes, business differences, or legal conflicts. With sensitivity and expertise, the dialogue can be steered in constructive directions, helping to find a solution that is sustainable for all involved.
Conflicts often develop between people who have had and continue to have diverse exchange relationships. Continuing these enduring relationships in a good – or at least bearable – way may be necessary for the participants, possibly desirable, or at least a worthwhile option. The purely legal, rational conflict resolution-oriented objectification cannot and does not want to consider the psychological essence of conflicts, namely the escalated relationship and emotional level as well as the personal motives and interests behind claims. This is where mediation comes into play.
